Welcome to the Information Habitat. The Information Habitat is a network for scholars, researchers, and
students to collaborate and share their work. Digital technologies are
revolutionizing the way in which we not only work, but how we play and
socialize with each other. In the digital world, the difference between
researching, playing, socializing, and teaching, which may be better
termed learning, is narrowing and becoming much less distinct. The
variety of uses to which we put digital technologies to acquire
knowledge is staggering: serious games, social networks, virtual
environments, digital libraries and archives, and multi-modal
productions, to name but a few, are changing the face of how we learn.
Much
of what we learn today is disseminated in environments other than
formal academic spaces, through digitally enabled interactions with
each other and with digital media. Unfortunately, some find it
uncomfortable to mix social environments with work environments, and often
rightly so. This is where the Information habitat steps in. It offers
conventional tools of social networks but provides and alternative
space for individuals, groups, and classes to share and collaborate,
research and learn. Enter the Information habitat and give it a try. Go to "
